Join us on August 11th for the inaugural meeting of an organization being set up to serve your needs. Have a voice in what this organization will become and how it will serve you.
Currently there are many organizations across North America that function to specifically assist women involved in creative fields whether it is visual arts, music, performance art including acting and dance, writing and film. Women in and around Vancouver are now meeting to pull together an arts organization specifically designed to support your creative pursuits. The organizers are in the very formative stages of developing this organization and want to incorporate into its very foundation your voice and the needs that women, such as yourself, who have identified issues you face in pushing your career forwards.
During the early evening of August 11th, we will be having our very first meeting where we begin those all important discussions on what an organization that supports women in the arts in this area needs to look like; what mandates does it need to incorporate; what programs does it need to offer; how should it be structured (memberships, etc.); and what services would it need to provide to be relevant to the needs of women living and working in the creative fields in this region.
This email is being sent to you because the organizers and/or someone you know thought you might profit from this type of organization and/or your input as a woman working in a creative field would be extremely valuable to assist us in developing a pertinent and relevant organization designed to help other women.
If you are a woman who is engaged in a creative profession, this will be your arts organization. It is being established to support your success. Come and give us input on how it can best serve you as your career moves forward.

Place: Rhizome Café, 317 E. Broadway, Vancouver BC – Meeting Room area

Andrea Nicki Ph.D.—Andrea is a poet, theorist, visual artist, and educator who teaches at SFU. Her first book of poetry was published by Inanna Press. A second book is currently under review. She has been part of various women’s arts organizations such as Kate Millet’s community in NY, and a center/store in Montreal.
Bernadine Fox BFA– Bernadine is a visual artist, writer, teacher, and curator who works in Vancouver. She has been on the board of various arts organization and is the past national BC representative for CARFAC. For more information visit her website at:
